Writer’s Cape

In light of New York Fashion Week, I am starting a new section on the blog where I share the occasional outfit with you. Ok it really has nothing to do with Fashion Week, but did that make me sound like I knew what I was talking about???!!!

I follow a handful of fashion/style blogs like Atlantic Pacific, Elements of Style, and of course The Sartorialist {I mean really, uhh-bsessed}. Jenna over on Eat Live Run has been another inspiration, posting outfits that are so cute and way cooler than anything I could ever come up with! ┬áStarting today, I’m copy-cat-ing all these lovely bloggers and hope to share a few Kristin Eats outfits/inspirations.

First up, we have what I’m calling The Writer – Take One. This is kind of my go-to outfit when the weather is a little chilly and I want to spend the day at coffee shops, writing away. It’s comfortable, casual, and gives my arms lots of space to move around. I didn’t really “plan” this outfit, but thought a fun way to start my fashion posts would be something I wear regularly.

Cape: Anthropologie {on sale this summer!}
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity
Shoes: Vans
Glasses: Christian Dior {thank you, Costco, for carrying cool glasses frames!}

This cape is made of the softest sweatshirt material on the planet. One feel and you’ll never want to take it off. It makes you want to cuddle up with this month’s Martha Stewart Living, kitten in lap, and sip a freshly steamed latte. It’s navy blue, which in my opinion can never be bad, and if I could I would wear it every day. Oh! It also has these super cute little arm holes that really come in handy.

I love everything about capes. I am beyond excited to be seeing them on runways, in the pages of magazines, and in stores throughout the mall {JC Penney even has some really cute ones!} this fall. I have been trying to figure out how to make myself a cape inspired by this Kate Spade one, but considering I have never sewn an article of clothing ever…. I would probably be better off saving up $600. Or finding a good lookalike at Forever 21.

Ooh while we’re spending time with Kate Spade: how adorable is this look? You may see me trying to imitate this in the near future.

Hope you’re excited about the outfit addition to the blog! Have a happy Friday, and I might be back later this evening detailing my weekly runs. Nothing screams “I’m cool” like spending a Friday night blogging about running….

Adios for now!
